“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life’s realities.” -Dr. Seuss

Too many years working in photojournalism gave me both an addiction to coffee and a deep appreciation for learning new things through people I have just met.

I travel because sitting still is a horrible thing. I have couchsurfed through Patagonia and trekked through some of the most incredible scenery on this planet. I have shared homemade beer, walked along the edge of a glacier, lingered in a forest at the end of the world, slept on spare beds, floors, couches and the ground.

I hold both a bachelors in journalism and masters in anthropology and I believe firmly in the wisdom of experience. I tend to gravitate towards things that can kill me or at least leave me seriously maimed, much to the chagrin of my mother. Among my heroes are; Sebastiao Salgado, Richard Avedon, Elliott Erwitt, John Steinbeck, David Foster Wallace and Berkeley Breathed, but that doesn’t keep me from reading trashy magazines. There is always the next tattoo, much to the chagrin of my father. I hope to help people see the world better and I refuse to give up my idealism, although it may take a dent now and again.

I have been spending a considerable amount of time in Buenos Aires, Argentina since January 2008. My desire to live outside of the USA, the country where I grew up, is at one point a need to know what else exists, how others live, how I might live otherwise, and perhaps a unconscious desire to torture myself by seeking out experiences that make me work hard.
