Argentina reelected two incumbents in 2011. Mauricio Macri as mayor of the City of Buenos Aires, known as Capital, and Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner to the presidency with over 53% of the popular vote. The two, physically only a few hundred yards apart in the Plaza de Mayo, are seen as worlds apart in their politics, creating a vibrant, if not tumultuous relationship that gets played out in the largest city in Argentina. Macri is a member of the Pro party. Kirchner, whose first term succeeded her husband, Nestor Kirchner, in the highest office in Argentina, is Frente para La Victoria.
